The Radio Flyer® Grow with Me Racer provides endless fun with 3 stages of play: completely adult driven, child driven with adult override ability, and finally completely child driven. The remote control gives parents the ability to override the child and either direct them on a better path or stop them immediately for safety. The remote has a 80ft range, and the car is equipped with an auto shut off when outside this range. One easy-push button makes it simple for kids to move forward, while the other easy-push button and steering wheel spins them right and left in place. Rechargeable battery and charger included.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Features, great fun, tough remote steering I purchased the Grow With Me Racer prior to Christmas 2017 for my four grandchildren to have fun with at my house while visiting (ages 6 months to 2 years). The remote feature is awesome due to their young ages. Also, we can sit a very young one with an older child in the same seat for twice the smiles and fun. The kids absolutely love the car and head right for it on arrival at our house. So on that issue, mission accomplished! Now for the adult views - - The remote control and control switchable modes are a fantastic idea and really sold me on the product. We have not reached the fully drive it yourself mode as our grandkids are not quite old enough yet. Our oldest grandchild (2 years old) did make an attempt and she mainly used the spin mode as she liked it so much. Storage of the remote and the mode switch location under the seat is a great idea as well. - Battery charging is good but not great. No indicator of the battery condition (fully charged, low charge, etc.) makes it difficult to not overcharge or determine how much playtime you have. The battery/charger wiring connectors are very hard to disconnect and connect. I usually have to do this for my wife. - Steering by remote control is very difficult due to response time and the accuracy of the remote directional steering ring. In trying to change direction we jerk the kids around quite a bit and run into many obstacles. Though the kids do not seem to mind, it is very difficult to get the vehicle to go where you want it to quickly. I had hoped with the cold weather outside, that it might be possible to maneuver inside the house. Almost impossible to do this. We will have to be outside in a wide open area to see better what the remote can and can't do. Should you make changes to this, please let me know as this will take me from liking this product to loving it! I still am very happy with the value of this product for the price point. As I said I like it very much (as my grandkids do) but with a few modifications it would take it to a much higher level of product satisfaction! I do not regret this purchase at all, and would recommend it with the warnings of our findings so far.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent idea needing a few tweaks I bought this car about 6 weeks ago as a Christmas gift for our two boys, aged 2 1/2 and 14 months, in order to teach them how to drive before we graduate to larger powered toys like the Tesla. I debated between three and four stars for the review, but two of the cons are significant enough I felt I had to bump it down a little. Firstly, they both think it’s awesome. We get the biggest grins and happy screams when they use it. We store it in our living room and boys get a lot of fun just crawling in and out of it. It was fairly easy to be put together; I did it myself Christmas Eve after everyone was in bed. PROS: —The boys love it. —The stages feature is great. We love being able to remotely control it for our 14 month old and to give our oldest a slightly more exciting ride before he takes over (parental override level). Having the safety stop definitely comes in handy when he’s driving because he does have a tendency to run into things. He’s still coming to terms with the concept of “stop.” —Having a place to securely store the remote is a welcome feature. It’s also good that the place to change control levels is hidden under the seat. —It’s a perfect size for them both and we think it will act as a great bridging “vehicle” to the larger, kid only steered powered toys. —The controls on the wheel are fairly intuitive and our oldest isn’t having much problem figuring them out. I’m glad there’s not a foot pedal to control as well steer as I think that level of coordination is beyond him currently. —It’s slow enough we can run and catch up with him as necessary but fast enough they get a thrill out of it. CONS: —Steering via the remote leaves a lot to be desired. The biggest issue is that we can’t get the car to go straight with it. Even when we’re pressing straight UP (forward) on the circle on the remote, the car veers one way or the other. In fact, sometimes you have deliberately steer a little right or left to get it to go, but then it won’t correct. It’s bad enough we can’t use the car on sidewalks. We have to either go out into the street in front of our house (definitely not my favorite thing to do) or take the car to a tennis court or to a parking lot. We need a fair amount of space to maneuver the car. Additionally, you have to move your finger a lot on the remote’s steering wheel/circle to get any direction change. Sometimes, you’re almost to the backward side of the circle before the car turns. There is also a moderate lag time between when the adult tries to change the car’s direction and when the car actually moves, but this would be manageable if we could get the car to go straight. Luckily, the stop button works pretty quickly. —Lack of charging/battery charge level indicator light. We don’t mind as much in terms of how long to charge it to full (we simply make sure never to charge it for more than 18 hours), but when we’re out using it, how much battery/play time do we have left? How before the battery runs out? If the battery isn’t completely charged and we want to take it out, how much is left? Is it worthwhile to take it and go all the way to the tennis courts? How long do we need to charge it (if the battery’s completely dead) to get a short 15 minutes play out of it? We haven’t played with it from fully charged battery to dead, so I don’t know what the general, expected use time is. —Interference with local WiFi networks? The remote works on a band that’s common for WiFi. So, we find the remote is slightly more responsive when we’re away from other houses. —The battery is difficult to disconnect. My husband has much less issue with it, so I usually end up letting him handle it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from defective After charging the battery a handful of times, per the vague and odd directions, this car stopped working. It will now only go for about 5 - 10 minutes before it is dead. At first, yes I would have recommended this product, however, if it dies this quickly and isn't covered under any warranty, then NO I would not recommend it. Definitely does not meet the expectations I have for Radio Flyer products- generally they're great! Customer service has been contacted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing I bought this car for my almost 1 year old for Christmas and he absolutely loves it! From the first time he sat in it he was ready to go. He sat bolt upright and held on to the steering wheel...just waiting. Admittedly mom has some difficulty steering with the remote but t gets easier the more we play with it. It works best in a large open area so my sister's house at Christmas made for some challenging turns. But my son loved it all!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing important battery info!? We haven't used the car yet. I got this for my grandson for Christmas and I clicked along fine putting it together but the battery info is sketchy! I charged the battery for 10 hours but the instructions only said don't charge over 18 hours. What is the appropriate charge time? It also says to recharge every time you use it. How do you know how long? I went to the web site and the other cars have a indicator light. Am I missing something on this one? I tried calling but they are now closed for the holidays. I feel like I have no way to insure I don't mess up the battery! Pretty frustrated at this point!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My toddler loves this car! Disclaimer: Radio Flyer provided us with a free sample of our Radio Flyer® Grow with Me Racer product to try out and review. My daughter is almost 22 months and LOVES this car. She asks for it daily, loves that she can hop in and out on her own, and even brings her stuffed animals along with her for rides. Her least favorite part is when the ride comes to an end! Handling - Remote control: We mostly use the adult operated remote control since our daughter is still young. It doesn't allow for a smooth ride when beginning to drive or changing directions. My daughter doesn't seem to mind it at all, but the car jerks a little at these times. Handling - Child steering: There are two buttons on the steering wheel that are only on right side. You can go forward, turn left/right. I wish the buttons were available on both sides with maybe a switch to indicate which side is being used. This operation favors right handed kids, whereas my daughter already favors her left hand. It's not a huge issue right now, but I can also see it being a struggle if a kid cannot use their right hand for whatever reason. Assembly: The directions are really straightforward, and I found it really simple to assemble. The only issue was lining up two of the screws on backside of steering wheel because it's in a tiny crevice that's hard to access. It didn't cause any major issues though. Battery charge: The manual says don't charge more than 18 hours, but there's no way to tell how long a full charge takes. Is it 17 hours? There's also no charger indicator that I see letting you know it's done. Some devices have a light that goes off when it's complete. Also, in order to charge the battery, you need to disconnect the 6v wires in order to connect the charger. Mine sticks pretty badly and is difficult to pull apart. It took two adults over 30 minutes to get the two wires apart in order to charge it. All batteries are included!! A nice bonus since not all toy companies do this. Overall, I would definitely recommend this product to others!
